The Super Bowl winner issues a public apology to Russell Wilson over preseason comments.

Two-time Super Bowl champion Chris Long issued a sincere apology to Pittsburgh Steelers starting quarterback Russell Wilson this week.

Before the season began, and throughout the time Justin Fields started for the Steelers, Long doubted abilities of Wilson at this stage in his career.

Long used as proof the end of Wilson’s time with the Seattle Seahawks and his disappointing years with the Denver Broncos as to why he doubted the 35-year-old’s abilities.

Wilson has led Pittsburgh to two victories since being named the starter before Week 7, when he returned to full health.

In the wins over the Jets and Giants, Wilson completed 36 passes for 542 yards and three touchdowns.

Former NFL defensive lineman Chris Long has apologized for doubting Wilson’s potential

‘I know I’ve already said this, but I wanted to make sure I said it – this is my public apology tour on one topic, and that’s Russell Wilson,’ Long said on his podcast.

‘I’ve gotten a lot of things right over the last year. This is one that I didn’t get right. Justin Fields didn’t do quite enough, and (Wilson) might be perfect for what they’re trying to do.’

‘He might be perfect for this coordinator. He might be perfect for taking advantage of the shots, the shot opportunities that we didn’t even know were there, the play-action.’

Wilson had guided the team to first place in the AFC North and a solid playoff position at the NFL regular season’s halfway point.

The Steelers have their toughest test of the season coming up in the next two weeks.

First, Pittsburgh will travel to face the 7-2 Washington Commanders before facing its division rivals, the Baltimore Ravens.
