Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been accused of publicly snubbing King Charles this week as the monarch celebrated his 76th birthday on Thursday.

While the King treated his big day like any other and carried out some royal duties, which saw him open a Coronation Food Hub, His Majesty did still receive plenty of birthday wishes.

Prince William, the King’s eldest son, and Princess Kate took to their official social media channels to wish the King a “very happy birthday”, with the message shared along with a smiling photograph of the monarch.

However the same cannot be said for Prince Harry, the King’s youngest son, who did not send a public birthday greeting.

Although the King wished Harry, who lives in California, a happy birthday publicly in September, the reason why the same was not done for the King is most likely because it is rare for a royal to mark another person’s birthday on social media unless it is a milestone, like Prince Harry’s 40th in September.

Although the King was not publicly wished a happy birthday by the duke on social media, which could have been done on official Archewell accounts run by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, it is likely he would have received personal well wishes on his special day.

Last year, the King received a call from across the pond from his youngest son, along with his two grandchildren Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three.

Details of the call at the time were leaked to the press, which reportedly caused upset for the King who wanted the conversation to remain private.

It is likely a similar call would have taken place yesterday between the King and his son, who were last together in February this year when Harry flew to the UK following his father King Charles’ cancer diagnosis.

At the time, the pair met very briefly in London for just under an hour. No details of what was said have ever been revealed.

Since then, the father and son are believed to have only spoken over the phone, with Prince Harry having visited the UK a number of times since without seeing the King.

The last visit was in September when the duke, 40, flew over for the WellChild Awards 2024. At the time, the King was believed to have been resting at Balmoral before his Autumn tour of Australia and Samoa just a few weeks later.
