The coastal Florida home of the late Boston Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield hit the market last week asking $3.3 million.

Known for his knuckleball, Wakefield—who died in October 2023 at the age of 57—pitched for the Red Sox for 17 seasons before retiring after the 2011 season, winning two World Series during his tenure. His wife, Stacy, died in February.

The couple purchased the Indian Harbour Beach home in 2006 for $2.58 million, property records show. Wakefield grew up in nearby Melbourne.

While living in the home, which was built in 2000, the Wakefields made some updates, most notably renovating the kitchen—adding custom cabinetry and marble countertops—and the pool, said listing agent Dewayne Carpenter of Compass.

Located in Lansing Island, a gated subdivision accessible by drawbridge, the 6,200-square-foot home’s style has a Mediterranean influence, with a stucco exterior, a tile and colonnades along both the front and back of the house. Inside, there are more columns and arches, as well as marble floors.

There are four bedrooms, four bathrooms and two half-bathrooms. The primary suite features vaulted ceilings, a fireplace, a “spa-inspired” bathroom and oversized walk-in closets, according to the listing.

Outside, there’s a beach-entry pool with a waterfall feature and a hot tub. The backyard area also has a fire pit, a summer kitchen and an outdoor shower.

“The pool and outdoor spaces are spectacular and where you’d want to spend all of your time,” Carpenter said.

Sitting on 150 feet of waterfront, the home overlooks views of the Banana River and has its own dock. As the ocean isn’t accessible from the property, the river is typically used for casual boating.

“It’s mainly for people to cruise around the Intracoastal and go to the eateries and the yacht club from their own docks,” Carpenter said.
