Sami Zayn reveals ‘unresolved’ tension with CM Punk ahead of Survivor Series WarGames

WWE Survivor Series WarGames will see Roman Reigns’ Bloodline team with CM Punk take on Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline team with Bronson Reed, but Sami Zayn has reservations about Punk.

WWE SmackDown saw Roman Reigns’ Bloodline get their fifth member for the WarGames match. After asking everyone to join and being rejected, Paul Heyman brought CM Punk to join the crew.

While Reigns has concerns regarding Punk, Sami Zayn recently revealed unresolved tension with Punk since his return at Survivor Series last year.

Sami Zayn reveals he hadn’t spoken to CM Punk in years ahead of his return

Sami Zayn joined Damian Priest for WWE Playback. The duo watched their Survivor Series WarGames match from 2023. This was where Punk returned to the company at the show’s end.

Zayn said: “I think there was still some weird underlying stuff with Punk and I, which, you know, Punk is a, I think it’s pretty well documented that he’s an interesting character who’s had his ups and downs with most people, both in the ring and backstage at various points, if you’ve known him a long enough time.”

“So I think there was just some unresolved stuff between he and I, and we hadn’t spoken in how many years at this time, so seeing him back at first was like, ‘Huh, okay’, but we eventually ended up talking on whatever issues that were out, and it is what it is.”

He also mentioned that it didn’t matter what he thought but how the fans reacted to Punk, and the video clearly showed that they were excited about his return. Zayn voiced his concerns during the last episode of RAW, which Jimmy Uso turned down, saying it was Heyman’s idea, so it should be all good.

How CM Punk’s involvement at WarGames adds new feuds to his own story

Since Punk got involved with The Bloodline for their WarGames match, fans have discussed how this could fuel future feuds. Since Seth Rollins was the original choice to be the fifth member and has unresolved issues with Punk, this move adds to that feud.

Some fans are expecting Punk and Rollins to continue their feud post-WarGames. Punk could also go against Reigns with Paul Heyman after their little interaction when Punk returned on SmackDown.

Punk could also take on Bronson Reed, who has aligned himself with Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline. Reed is also feuding with Rollins, which could add another layer. Some fans are expecting a triple threat post-WarGames between the three.
