Michael Chandler provides Conor McGregor fight update and calls out another UFC legend during Q&A

Michael Chandler is still gunning for a fight with Conor McGregor.

The lightweight duo was first booked to face off in February 2023 before filming a series of The Ultimate Fighter that unfortunately didn’t end with them scrapping.

They were supposed to headline UFC 303 in June, but Conor McGregor broke his pinky toe in training before withdrawing from the card and sidelining himself for the rest of 2024.

Tired of waiting, Michael Chandler took a fight with Charles Oliveira, who survived a late scare to beat him by unanimous decision at UFC 309 on November 16.

Michael Chandler eyes two fights in 2025

Michael Chandler recently invited his fans to ask him questions on social media.

Naturally, he was inundated with comments about his recent defeat and fighting future, with many people intrigued to find out who he will face next.

‘Iron Mike’ clarified that a fight with Conor McGregor remains on the cards moving into the new year.

A fan asked: “Did your lack of activity contribute to your performance in the last fight? Do you intend to wait for Conor again or are you going to fight in the 1st or 2nd quarter of 2025? I suggest fighting as soon as possible.”

Chandler replied: “I don’t think so. I was present in there. Conor in 2025.”

However, the 38-year-old made it clear McGregor is just one of the many opponents he hopes to see in the Octagon next year by calling out another UFC legend.

Jorge Masvidal is gearing up for a return to MMA after retiring from the sport last year following a run of four consecutive defeats.

‘Gamebred’ crossed over to boxing for two fights, including a majority decision defeat to Nate Diaz, during his time away from the sport that made him famous.

Now he is looking for someone to fight in his UFC comeback, which he claims will take place in April.

Chandler has put himself forward by calling him out on social media.

He said during his Q&A session: “Where you at Jorge?”

Michael Chandler clarifies Charles Oliveira comments

During his Twitter truth-telling forum, Chandler addressed some recent comments that made him the butt of many jokes from MMA fans.

UFC 309 was not the first time he’d fought Oliveira. ‘Do Bronx’ knocked him out when they clashed for lightweight gold at UFC 262 in May 2021. Still, Chandler maintained that he beats Oliveira nine times out of 10.

“I believe I beat Charles Oliveira nine times out of 10,” he told Ariel Helwani. “Obviously, I’ve lost to him twice now. Two out of two. I have a 100 percent loss rate to Charles Oliveira.

“So, I understand why people might tsk at that, roll their eyes at that. But I just am so unhappy with the performance.”

Chandler has finally explained what he meant after being roasted by online trolls.

He replied to a curious fan: “Clarification …9 out of the next 10 times.”

A trilogy fight between the two seems unlikely to be booked anytime soon.

If Chandler gets his wish, he’ll be fighting McGregor and Masvidal in 2025.
