The most recent announcement, a second trailer for A Minecraft Movie, comes just a few months before the video game adaptation is released. The trailer, which focuses on Steve’s beginnings, retells how the creative child became the adult who lives in the Overworld. The other important characters ultimately join him, and they discover that the world is being destroyed by terrible powers. After teasing a number of action-packed scenes, the teaser ends with the game’s notorious nighttime elements, such as zombies and skeletons that can shoot arrows.
A Minecraft Movie is set to release on April 4, 2025. This will come almost two years after the production of the movie begins. Production was slated to begin on August 7, 2023, in New Zealand, but shifted to spring 2024. This delay was due to the SAG/AFTRA strike which saw a majority of Hollywood productions halted as actors fought for fair wages. According to a post by Jason Momoa in April 2024, A Minecraft Movie wrapped filming.
