There was a lot of hype heading into Saturday Night’s Main Event, but many fans were left in a state of disappointment.
It was the first SNME since 2008 when WWE hit NBC for the first time in 16 years for a two-hour special on prime time.
Four championships were on the line, but with no title changes fans were left feeling short changed by the event.
WWE fans ‘unimpressed’ by Saturday Night’s Main Event
Cody Rhodes, Gunther, and Liv Morgan all retained their titles at the event and fans took to social media to complain about the show’s predictability.
On X, one fan wrote: “I 100% got my hopes up for SNME because this was nothing more than a glorified house show” while another said: “No surprises, no returns, only one legend, and in my opinion, some wrong winners. The show was disappointing.”
Not going to lie, that’s probably the last #SNME I’ll bother watching live. The longer it went on, the more it felt like a house show.
Ads during every match, cutting short what were already 10 min sprints, didn’t help matters. All a bit meh 🤷🏻♂️

Another wrote: “This is really poor and disgraceful tribute to Saturday Night’s Main Event. So rushed, no title changes, or shocks” and one said: “What a disappointing event.”
#SNME was largely unimportant and unimpressive, I’d hoped they would’ve had stars on the show like a Cody-Roman rematch, or a Punk match, and instead it was extremely predictable and probably the worst PLE of the year.

With WWE Raw on Netflix just three weeks ago, this show ended up feeling like a stopgap rather than an important show.
Timing issues didn’t help WWE
Two hours always felt like a short show for the five matches WWE had planned and a mass of adverts didn’t help the cause.
Most matches reached their conclusion just as they felt like they were warming up and the show resembled an episode of RAW more than it did a PLE.
With another Saturday Night’s Main Event scheduled for January 25, it’ll be interesting if WWE takes these criticisms on board ahead of the next event.
