Conor McGregor was not impressed after DAZN made what he viewed to be a bad broadcasting decision last night.
The Irishman was watching the action that was taking place in Hollywood, Florida from Dubai, where he is currently on vacation and training for either a UFC or boxing fight next year. And he wasn’t impressed with a key element of the broadcast, taking to social media to voice his displeasure.
In recent weeks, McGregor has taken more of a backseat role in his various promotional deals. But he has kept hmself in the headlines as it pertains to BKFC, where he is a part owner and one of the main promoters alongside David Feldman.
Conor McGregor rages at DAZN and threatens to cancel broadcast deal
Watching over Saturday night, Conor McGregor was spending a lot of time with DAZN. He first tuned into the Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury heavyweight title fight, before switching over to the non-pay-per-view BKFC show.
There, he was treated to a night of knockouts and other action, although one issue emerged. After the fights were done, the promotion just moved along seemingly without giving the fighters a chance to be interviewed.
This seemed to irk McGregor, who voiced his displeasure on social media. “DAZN I DONT GIVE A F***,” in the most pointed message of them all. “IF YOU DONT GET OUR WINNERS ON THE MIC WE ARE DONE!”
The deal between DAZN and BKFC is relatively new, and the famed broadcast broadcaster has only shown a small number of fights thus far in this lengthy streaming deal. But McGregor is already comfortable making demands via social media about production.
BKFC’s DAZN broadcast deal was signed within the last few months
Earlier this hear, McGregor and David Feldman got together to stage the first BKFC event on DAZN from Marbella in Spain. They packed out the Arena Marbella and announced a shiny new broadcast deal which is believed to be in the millions.
In a press release announcing the deal, Jared Kass, SVP North America, DAZN Group, expressed his excitement for the partnership back in September: “We are thrilled to become the exclusive home of BKFC’s premier events.
“This collaboration speaks to DAZN’s dedication to delivering innovative and unforgettable combat sports experiences. With BKFC now part of our portfolio, fans worldwide will have access to some of the most exciting fights and content in the sport.”
