Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been labelled “rogue royals” by a royal commentator who claimed they put “pleasure and profit ahead of their public service.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sus𝑠e𝑥 stepped down as senior working royals and moved to the US in 2020.

In the last year, they embarked on two major pseudo-royal tours in Nigeria and Colombia to promote their philanthropic endeavours.

But royal biographer Andrew Lownie was critical of the couple’s moves and claimed they want to capitalise on their royal links as they don’t know where “the boundaries lie”.

He told the Sun: “If they were sensible, they would know where the boundaries lie.”

Ms Lownie also spoke about Harry and Meghan’s plummeting popularity in the UK, as the couple now regularly rub shoulders with Prince Andrew near the bottom of the rankings.

He said: ”You don’t hear these scandals about some of the old members of the Royal family.

”It’s what I call the ‘rogue royals’ – it’s Harry and Meghan, Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.

”One of the tropes of the Crown somewhere is the division between the public service and private pleasure – and here, I’m afraid, people are putting private pleasure and profit ahead of their public service.”

It comes as recent polling results by YouGov found the barely-seen royal Princess Alexandra is liked by more Britons than Meghan Markle.

The data compiled by YouGov showed the Duchess of Sus𝑠e𝑥 is now 17th on the list of the most popular Royal Family members based on the size of her fanbase.

Meanwhile, Harry was also ranked in the YouGov poll and was one place above Alexandra.
