Real Madrid defeated Dortmund 2-0 at Wembley to win the 15th European Championship in history

Real Madrid did not need to play too dominantly, and at one point were even pressured by Dortmund in the Champions League final.

However, the difference between the two clubs comes from the ability to take advantage of opportunities. While Dortmund’s attack was too hasty in the decisive moments, Real took full advantage of the opponent’s defense errors to score 2 goals, scored by Dani Carvajal and Vinicius respectively.

The final at Wembley ended with a 2-0 victory for Real Madrid. The club known as the “DNA Champions League” has never lost in the final of Europe’s most prestigious cup tournament since 1981. Over the past 40 years, “Los Blancos” has reached the final 9 times and won all of them. An achievement that no other club can touch.

Meanwhile, Dortmund collapsed for the second time in a row when reaching the final of the most prestigious cup tournament on the old continent. Marco Reus left behind regret when he ended his career with “Die Borussen” without a major title.

The pace of the final match was pushed up immediately after the opening whistle. 14 minutes, Julian Brandt received the ball from the left wing. The German midfielder hit a shot in a favorable position, but the ball missed Thibaut Courtois’ goal.

After 20 minutes of the final, Real dominated the ball (59%) but did not create any significant opportunities. Vinicius and Rodrygo are tightly marked by yellow shirt defenders.

By the 21st minute, Real Madrid fans had their hearts racing again. Antonio Rudiger’s mistake created an opportunity for Adeyemi to run down and face Courtois. Player number 27 dribbled the ball past the goalkeeper and scored. Dani Carvajal promptly retreated to cover for Real. 3 minutes later, the opportunity opened for Fullkrug. The striker leaned over and shot the ball against the post.

The first half ended with Real Madrid deadlocked. The mark of the La Liga representative is only the unnecessary collision situations of Vinicius. The Brazilian striker was frustrated when being closely marked and received a yellow card after a tackle.

Right at the beginning of the second half, Real rallied and had 2 consecutive opportunities. In the 49th minute, Toni Kroos shot hard, forcing goalkeeper Kobel to struggle to save. At a corner kick, Dani Carvajal headed the ball narrowly over the bar.

In the 63rd minute, Dortmund immediately answered with a header from Fullkrug. Courtois chose a good position to save Real from losing.

At a difficult time, Real Madrid found a goal from a fixed situation in the 74th minute. Dani Carvajal, a player only 1.73 m tall, had a good position, jumped high and headed accurately, not allowing Kobel blocking opportunity.

After conceding, Dortmund could not advance the ball and even continuously faced dangerous situations from Real. In the 78th minute, a vast space opened before Bellingham’s eyes. The former Dortmund star threw a shot but was blocked by Schlotterbeck. Minutes 79, 80 and 82, Kobel’s goal wobbled with the finishing efforts of Kroos, Camavinga and Nacho.

Dortmund’s hopes were extinguished in the 83rd minute when Ian Maatsen suddenly missed a pass at home. Bellingham passed just enough for Vinicius to run up and hit a shot, doubling the gap for the La Liga representative in the Champions League final.

In the 87th minute, Real’s net shook after Fullkrug’s header. However, the joy of the yellow and black team fans was soon extinguished when the linesman raised the flag for offside.
