Randy Orton Doubts Anyone Will Beat 20-Year Record As Youngest WWE World Champion

Randy Orton will likely remain in the history books forever as the youngest World Champion in WWE history, according to the man himself.

The Legend Killer’s victory came at SummerSlam 2004 in Toronto, Ontario when Orton was just 24 years old. Despite the historic nature of his win, his reign would be short-lived. After being betrayed by Evolution on the post-SummerSlam edition of Raw, Orton would lose the title to Triple H at the following month’s Unforgiven pay-per-view.

Randy Orton On His Record

While Orton has since gone on to become a 14-time WWE World Champion, it was this first reign that put him in the record books. Speaking to Sportskeeda, Orton was asked who he sees breaking the record and had his doubts anyone will.

As far as someone becoming the youngest World Heavyweight Champion and taking that from me, I don’t see that happening. Only because I think it was a very special circumstance when I became the youngest World Champion. I was 24 years old, and I don’t know if there’s anyone young enough to make it to that yet.”

Who Could Do It?

While Orton doubts anyone will break his record, there are some on WWE’s roster who are currently in contention. Brooks Jensen, who has been making headlines for his NXT program as of late, is 22 years old. Je’Von Evans, who has also been impressing in WWE NXT celebrated turning 21 in April of this year, giving him a few years to become a WWE World Champion.

Luca Crusifino is 23 years old but with his 24th birthday coming this November, time is not on The Family’s side. In fact, all these potential championship wins hinge on a rapid push to the very top of WWE, and short of things changing greatly in WWE’s new era, Orton may indeed remain the record-holder for life.
