Dustin Poirier dropped nice guy act to mock Conor McGregor after leg break in UFC 264 trilogy fight

Dustin Poirier is widely regarded as one of MMA’s nice guys.

‘The Diamond’ lives up to his nickname by being a loving husband, doting father, and doing everything he can to raise money for the less fortunate in his area.

However, he broke character after beating Conor McGregor at UFC 264.

‘Notorious’ famously suffered a broken leg after bashed up for large parts of the first round of their trilogy fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on July 10, 2021.

As the Irishman remained on the floor nursing an injury he still hasn’t returned from, Poirier mocked him by copying his trademark ‘billionaire strut’ after he was officially declared the winner.

Poirier’s wife, Jolie, added insult to injury by flipping her middle finger at McGregor, who went on a furious rant at the couple during his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan.

McGregor first rubbed Poirier up the wrong way in September 2014.

During his rise to the top of the sport, ‘Mystic Mac’ was booked in what many people viewed as an acid test against the top featherweight contender.

Poirier was caught on camera telling his coach he ‘had never disliked someone that much’ before a fight, and McGregor loved the fact his trash talk had worked.

In January 2021, he finally got his chance at revenge when they were booked in a rematch, but the build-up was much friendlier the second time around.

McGregor even pledged $500,000 to his opponent’s charity – The Good Fight Foundation  – before getting knocked out by him at UFC 257.

Poirier’s wife personally thanked McGregor for his generosity after the second fight, but the couple went on to accuse him of flaking on the payment after losing.

This incident led to a bitter rivalry between the two men as they geared up for their trilogy fight at UFC 264.

McGregor crossed the line on several occasions ahead of the bout by threatening to kill his opponent and making comments about his family.

The 35-year-old continued to verbally attack the Poiriers as he lay on the floor and even threatened to kill them in their sleep before Rogan gave him a mic.

Poirier’s troll job was nothing compared to the onslaught he suffered from McGregor, who he is open to fighting again when he returns from his extended injury layoff.

First, he’s got to get by another man at UFC 299 on Saturday night.

Benoit Saint-Denis is currently on a five-fight win streak and has stopped every opponent he has beaten during his eventful 13-1 (1NC) MMA career.

‘God of War’ is currently ranked #12 at lightweight, but he could propel himself into title contention by beating a top three fighter and picking up a career-best win.
