The sound of music comes alive in these opulent developments.

When Dr. Shilpa Paradkar Singh and her family moved from Scarsdale, New York, to Manhattan’s Upper East Side in 2019, the amenities at their new condo were music to their ears.

“The minute we walked into the sales office and heard about the ‘Sound Lounge,’ my heart was set on moving there,” said Singh, a primary care physician whose husband works in finance, of their purchase at the Kent, a 30-story tower completed in 2017. “Both of our sons were learning to play piano. They can take lessons in the Sound Lounge and practice there, so we didn’t need a piano in our home.”

Everyone enjoys music, whether they are listening to Mozart, jazz, hip-hop, or show tunes—and real estate developers are taking note. Amenities that revolve on music provide communities a fresh sense of vibrancy, relaxation, and social interaction.

Lenny Kravitz, the musician, created the Sound Lounge at the Kent, which provides multiple ways to enjoy music. A stage and performance area, a dance floor, a karaoke machine, a piano, drums, an amplifier, and a sophisticated audiovisual system for online classes and rehearsals are all features of the retreat.

To foster harmony among their residents, some communities provide even more music-related amenities.’

According to Singh, the area doubles as a gathering place for events like Super Bowl parties because it contains cozy furnishings and a few TVs. “My 10-year-old kid enjoys music and spends his free time practicing the piano.” My thirteen-year-old occasionally plays the drums and piano in the Sound Lounge.

Singh expressed her gratitude to her neighbors and herself for the music room in the building, which allows them to have guests without having to walk outdoors.

Front and York, a mixed-use development in Brooklyn’s Dumbo neighborhood, includes condos priced from $1.125 million to more than $3 million, and has a dedicated music room and recording studio with a piano and views of the borough’s skyline.
