Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert has purchased a Weston, Florida, megamansion for a record $12.25 million.

Officially known as Luis Robert Moiran, Mr. Robert, 25, paid $5 million more for the 12,323-square-foot residence than the next priciest abode in Weston, a 8,890-square-foot contemporary spec house that sold earlier this year for $7.25 million, according to records on Zillow. He purchased the property through a land trust that listed Mr. Robert as its creator, according to public records.

It boasts floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the grounds.

The property was first listed in late September 2021 for $14 million, Mansion Global reported at the time. The home got a $1 million price cut in April, and went into contract in July, listing records show.

Built in 2017, the residence features seven bedrooms, 11 bathrooms and more than 12,000 square feet, according to the listing with Senada Adžem of Douglas Elliman. It offers lake views and sits on about 1.5 acres in the equestrian-friendly gated community of Windmill Ranch Estates.

“This home was inspired by some of the greatest resorts, including the Breakers hotel in Palm Beach,” Ms. Adžem told Mansion Global when it was first listed. “The clients wanted to create their own staycation home, a place where you can really enjoy the indoors and outdoors and feel like you never have to leave.”

The interiors boast a clean, light-filled layout with a great room with floor-to-ceiling windows and retractable doors, plus Turkish Carrara marble flooring, according to the listing. There’s a custom chef’s kitchen and a primary bedroom suite with a fireplace, a seating area that opens to the outside, a breakfast bar, a large dressing room, and a bathroom with a soaking tub and two vanities.

Furniture was designed especially for the home and was included in the sale.

Outside, manicured gardens surround the home, as well as a sanctuary for butterflies, according to the listing. Firebush, Lantanas and Texas Sage and other plantings attract various species to the property, such as monarchs and rice paper butterflies.

There are also several outdoor nooks for reading and lounging, air-conditioned loggias, a basketball court and a custom-made trampoline large enough to require its own irrigation system, Ms. Adžem previously told Mansion Global. There’s also an indoor-outdoor game room and a pool with water and fire features.

Ms. Adžem did not immediately respond to a request for additional comment. The Cuban baseball star played his first MLB season with the White Sox in 2020. This summer he sprained his left wrist sliding into second base during a home game against the Tigers on Aug. 12, then was hit by pitch a few weeks later, leading to an injury that kept him from finishing the season. He had a .284 batting average for the year, with 54 runs scored in 98 games, according to the MLB. Representatives for the player did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
