‘Never fighting again’ – Dana White worries fans by ruling out three key dates for Conor McGregor’s UFC comeback

UFC CEO Dana White has declared Conor McGregor won’t return to action in August, September or October.

‘Notorious’ hasn’t fought since breaking his leg during a trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021 – but he was supposed to make his comeback this weekend.

McGregor agreed to fight Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29.

However, he recently withdrew from the event after breaking his pinky toe in training.

It’s a relatively minor injury and the Irishman still expects to fight this summer, but his boss has suggested he won’t return until November at the earliest.

On Thursday, during an interview with Barstool Sports, White was asked if McGregor would fight in August, September or October.

“None of the above,” he replied.

Panicked MMA fans reacted to White’s comment on social media.

One person tweeted: “Yeah Conor never fighting again.”

Another said: “It’s over.”

A third person wrote: “Kids career is over because his pinky toe was sore.”

Someone else joked: “Somebody needs to do a well-being check-in on Michael Chandler ASAP.”

Chandler hasn’t fought since being submitted by Dustin Poirier in November 2022.

The former three-time Bellator champion is fit to fight and has been ever since, but he’s chosen to sit on the sidelines and wait for a ‘Red Panty Night’ with McGregor.

White has expressed his willingness to book Chandler a different fight whenever he wants, but ‘Iron Mike’ seems intent on welcoming McGregor back to the Octagon.

The UFC’s biggest star recently leaked information about Chandler’s contract that explains why he is happy to waste his prime years waiting out for their fight.

He tweeted: “Chandler is getting paid 10x of what his contract states for other fights.”

“Meaning he would need to fight 10 fights to make what he would make in this one. I’m The One.

“For those saying he could have fought 2 or 3 times by now etc. He’d need 10 to break even with this cheque.”

Hopefully, we get a new McGregor vs Chandler date very soon.
