World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest and Gunther engage in an explosive face to face before their SummerSlam matchup

“The Champion” says he has a match against Braun Strowman, but first, he wants to confront Gunther in the ring. The Austrian steps into the ring to introduce the entire crowd to the World Heavyweight Champion, still confident, still carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders, carrying Monday Night RAW week after week and still living his childhood dream. Gunther comments that Priest is not measuring up. His reign has not brought prestige, nor has it contributed anything. “The King of the Ring” wants to take that burden off of Damian, and that’s why he asks him to hand over his title.

Damian Priest would like WWE SummerSlam 2024 to be so he can wipe the smile off Gunther’s face. “The Champion” remembers that he’s been fighting for twenty years, and if Gunther is just coming here to collect a check, he’s not needed here. Priest won’t let the Austrian take the championship from him. Gunther responds that being on the streets is an option; he recognizes how hard Damian has worked, but it’s his parents’ fault that he didn’t have what it took to have a proper life. While Priest was on the streets, Gunther was receiving calls from WWE begging him to join the company. Gunther concludes by saying that it will be his responsibility to restore the honor and prestige of professional wrestling, as well as the World Heavyweight Championship, as Damian will always be “street trash.”

Priest responds that it’s weird that Gunther doesn’t see what’s coming for him, and it’s the same reason he lost at WrestleMania: he has no heart or knowledge of what it’s like to fight for everything. Damian Priest comments that at SummerSlam he’ll still be champion, while Gunther, for the first time, will have to know what it’s like to fight from the bottom, since he’ll have nothing. And so, everyone will see that Gunther is nothing more than a “boring, conceded, privileged motherfucker.” They both bump heads until they’re interrupted by Braun Strowman.

Adam Pearce informs Jey Uso that Dominik Mysterio has asked him to match him one-on-one tonight. Bron Breakker confronts the RAW General Manager because he can’t believe Ilja Dragunov has a shot at the Intercontinental Title. Pearce tells him that this has nothing to do with him as he lost his chance at Money In The Bank. Breakker says that this is all his business and that he’s going out to destroy everyone in the match. Adam makes it clear that he has no business interfering and calls security to make sure Bron leaves the venue.
